If you're hiring an electrician in Dallas, TX for the first time — or the first time in a while — it helps to know what the process actually looks like. I'm Fabian Gonzalez, founder of Gonelectrical, and I want to walk you through how we work so there are no surprises.
I'm a Texas Master Electrician with more than a decade of experience in the electrical industry, and I built this business on a few simple ideas: quality workmanship, honesty, dependable service, respect for the customer, and clear estimates. Here's how that shows up in practice.
How the process works
You request an estimate
Everything starts with a request. You can request a free estimate on our homepage, call me directly, or reach out through our contact page. Tell me your name, a phone number, and what's going on — what you're seeing, what you'd like added, or what you'd like upgraded. You don't need to know the technical name for it. "My lights flicker when the AC comes on" is plenty.
We talk through the issue
Next, we talk. I'll ask questions to understand the problem or the project: what's happening, when it started, what's changed recently. If it's a repair, I'll diagnose what's going on. If it's an install — say an EV charger or a whole-home generator — I'll check that your panel can support the added load, because the right install often starts with panel capacity and dedicated circuits.
For troubleshooting and repairs, I'll find the cause before recommending a fix. For lighting, outlets, switches, and GFCI, or wiring, I'll explain what's involved in doing it safely and to code.
You approve the scope and we schedule
Once I understand the job, I give you a clear estimate — the scope and the cost — before any work begins. You decide whether to move forward. If you approve, we schedule the work around your day. That's the part I take seriously: I show up when I say I will, and I stand behind the work.
The work, then the warranty
I do the work to code, clean up, and walk you through what I did. The workmanship is backed by a one-year warranty — if something I installed or repaired fails because of the work, I come back and make it right. Installed equipment may carry additional manufacturer warranties, and I'll hand over whatever paperwork comes with it. My goal is that you're left with a job you can trust and a clear record of what was done.
Questions to ask any electrician
Whether you hire me or someone else, I'd want you to ask a few questions before work starts:
- Are you a licensed, Master Electrician? Licensing tells you the person on your job has the training to do it safely and to code.
- Will I get an estimate before work begins? You should know the scope and cost up front — not after the work is done.
- What exactly is included in the scope? Ask what's being done, what materials are used, and whether anything — like a panel or service upgrade — is recommended but separate.
- Is the workmanship warrantied? A warranty on the work tells you the electrician stands behind it. Ours is one year.
- Do you handle residential and commercial work? If you're a business owner, you want someone comfortable with commercial electrical service, not just homes.
- What areas do you serve? Make sure they actually cover your location. We serve Dallas, TX and the surrounding communities — Mesquite, Sunnyvale, Forney, Terrell, Rockwall, Rowlett, Richardson, Addison, Grapevine, Carrollton, Highland Park, White Rock, and Bishop Arts.
