Electrical panel upgrade and service work in Dallas, TX

If you've called around for electrical work, you've probably noticed that most electricians — including me — don't publish a flat price list online. I'm Fabian Gonzalez, founder of Gonelectrical, and I want to walk you through why that is and what actually goes into the cost of electrical services in Dallas, TX.

Why I don't publish a flat price list

Electrical work isn't one-size-fits-all. Two homes on the same street can need completely different approaches to what sounds like the same job — one panel upgrade might be straightforward, and the next might require a service upgrade, a new conductor, or a redistribution of circuits. A price I quote blind, before seeing the panel, the wiring, and the load, wouldn't be honest. That's why I'd rather give you a clear estimate after I understand the job than hand you a number that changes once I'm on site.

I've spent more than a decade in the electrical industry, and as a Texas Master Electrician I take pricing seriously. My promise is simple: you'll know the scope and the cost before any work begins.

What actually drives the cost of electrical work

The type of work

The biggest factor is the work itself. Replacing a single outlet is a different scope than rewiring a circuit or installing a panel, and the time, materials, and permitting reflect that.

Panels, upgrades, and capacity

An electrical panel upgrade or replacement is one of the most common larger projects we handle. Cost depends on whether you're replacing a panel of the same capacity or increasing capacity for added loads — new appliances, an EV charger, or a remodel. The condition of your existing service, the distance to the meter, and what the utility requires all factor in.

Troubleshooting and repairs

For troubleshooting and repairs, pricing depends on how long it takes to diagnose the issue and what's required to fix it safely. A flickering light could be a simple fixture problem, or it could point to a loose connection upstream. I diagnose first, then explain what I found and what it takes to fix it.

EV chargers, generators, and dedicated circuits

Adding an EV charger, a whole-home generator, or dedicated circuits usually means confirming your panel has the capacity to support the new load. Sometimes that's a straightforward install; sometimes it requires a panel or service upgrade first. That's why I scope the whole picture — the charger isn't useful if the panel can't safely support it.

Lighting and outlets

Lighting installation and LED upgrades and outlet, switch, and GFCI installation are generally smaller jobs, but the cost still depends on access, the number of fixtures or devices, and whether we're fishing new wire through finished walls.

The factors behind every quote

When I put a quote together, the same things come into play every time: the scope of the work, the materials and devices required, the labor and time on site, any code or permit requirements, and the access conditions. I don't charge for the diagnosis before I explain the problem, and I won't start work until you've approved the estimate.

Whether it's residential electrical service at your home or commercial electrical service at your business, the process is the same. I serve Dallas and the surrounding area — if you're in Dallas, TX, Mesquite, Sunnyvale, Forney, Rockwall, Rowlett, Richardson, or any of the communities we cover, the approach doesn't change.
